Redesigning the dashboard to improve end-user experience of monitoring produce bio-data
About Strella
Strella is a biotech company whose main product is setting up sensors in produce storage rooms, and monitoring the bio-data from a dashboard. Businesses can determine when the maturity of the produce is to ship out, thus reducing waste of produce.
My Role
I was tasked with redesigning the dashboard per customer specs.
Project Goals
New Dashboard
- Audit current site to identify pain points
- Review requirements doc and synchronize with stakeholders
- Implement brand new dashboard UI

4 Improved Features
Along with main dashboard, 4 main features needed to be improved:
- Room Conditions, which displays data on the rooms
- Maturity Data, which displays data on the maturity of the product
- CA Data, which displays controlled atmosphere data
- Inventory Data, which displays data of the current inventory

3 New Workflows
As well, 3 new workflows were to be designed:
- Alerts, allowing users to customize how they would be alerted to different dashboard/data changes
- Graphs, allowing users to change and/or select the data in graphs
- Room Settings, allowing the user to set settings for specific rooms

Quick turnaround meant need for very quick iteration.

Roadblock: Aligning on Design Choices
Gaps occurred between initial user needs, business requirements, and early design concepts that resulted in misalignment.
Facilitated additional working sessions with stakeholders to clarify expectations and validate requirements.
Explored multiple alternative design solutions, ultimately delivering designs that fully met user needs and satisfied business owners.
