about me

about me

Designer of all things! Born and raised in Seattle. For a long time, I have had a passion for all things design related. I am a well rounded designer, always trying to learn new skills. I have a background and years of experience in graphic design, especially in the print industry. I am now fully immersing myself into my UX career. I believe I can use my skills as a UX Design for social good and impact.

My years in the print industry came after studying graphic design in college. The print industry taught me invaluable skills in the design world. I did a lot of prepress, which taking design and applying in a practical sense. Being able to use many large format printers, laser engravers, and all sorts of different mediums, really expanded using my design and mechanical skills at the same time. Also, being able to take design and make a physical finished product was very fulfilling.

I am lucky enough to have a community around me that is supportive not only to me, but expands their reach to those in need. I am lucky enough to have friends and family members who are nurses, social workers, and teachers. The community I am in fosters the desire to want to make the world a better place. I believe that I could take my design knowledge and use it to make others lives easier. To me, UX Design is a great way to improve a lot of experiences people have with things such as signing up for social services, for example. If I can create products and experiences that will make the lives of those less fortunate easier, I will feel I have done my job right.

I have always been an expert with the design tools, even as they are ever changing. From a lot Adobe products like Illustrator and Photoshop, to Sketch, and then Figma, I have been able to master the tools. That being said, being an expert with the tools is nothing without understanding the correct design principles and more importantly understanding user's needs. Learning, mastering, and applying research skills along with the visual skills and the mastery of the tools makes be the UX Designer I am today.

One of my my goals in life is to use design as a way to help those in need. I want to work for companies and others who have a positive impact on the world. A lot of those who helped raise me in life are teachers, scientists, and activists. They have imparted the importance of being a quality human and helping others. I believe my career and skills in UX can make this possible, and I always strive for it.

Some of my hobbies outside of design include beer brewing, perfecting the perfect burger, finding the best Pho spot in my city, and craft beer tasting. My perfect idea of a beach vacation is sitting under blue tarps next to the Pacific Ocean on the Washington coast, in stormy weather, while grilling hot dogs or freshly caught razor clams.
